Year of graduation from Mount Carmel College of Nursing: 2003, 理学学士 in Nursing

其他学位/证书: I also earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Duquesne University in 2013 and my 理学硕士 in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Phoenix in 2010.

专业特色: I have been a faculty manager and now am associate professor for Chamberlain College of Nursing’s DNP program.

What is your hometown and where do you currently live? I grew up in 俄亥俄州哥伦布市, and now live in Grove City.

When did you first feel the call to be a nurse? My original career goal was to become a medical doctor. I had the opportunity to support and witness my best friend give birth to her daughter, staying with her from the time her labor began to her delivery. After watching the nurse provide physical and emotional care to my friend and seeing the doctor run in at the last minute to deliver the baby, I realized that I wanted to be the person who was with the patient at all times, providing physical and emotional care. That’s when I knew I also wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse.

What television show do you have to DVR every week? Scandal.

What is your favorite memory of Mount Carmel? Among my favorite memories is being down in the student lounge with other students, where we supported and encouraged each other to press on.

What book is currently on your nightstand (or at the top of your Kindle favorites)? Scholarly Inquiry and the DNP Capstone.

How has your Mount Carmel network helped you in your life, personally or professional or both? The one thing I can say is that I am proud to be a graduate of Mount Carmel. To be able to share that with others is very important.

What advice would you like to share with other nurses as they move from students to alumni of Mount Carmel? Press on! Reaching your goal may not be easy and you may hit some hard times, but always remember to press and continue to work toward your goal. And, always remain positive, even when it’s hard. Finally, never say “impossible.” Remember that scripture says: “All things are possible with God.”
